Subject: Nashville VA Hospital thinks hearing impaired/deaf patients will miraculously hear their phone calls
Saturday April 12, I wrote to my PCP asking about a few issues. I got a return email on Sunday the 13th from Dr. Renee Cohen stating "I will have my team call you in the morning to find a time that works out for you. " - This set me off as this has been an ongoing problem for well over a year now with the Nashville VA Hospital, I am hearing impaired / deaf. I cannot use the phone. I do not live in a perfect world like those who can hear and discuss matters over the phone. It is flagged on my VA profile do not call, - email me or text me because I am hearing impaired / deaf. Yet each and every time I deal with the VA its the same thing -- We'll call you.....
I also get letters in the mail asking me to call them in order to set up an appointment to be seen, as if God Himself is going to clap His hands and grant me the one time allowance of making a phone call. We still haven't heard from you yet, please call us to discuss your upcoming appointment.
It's totally unprofessional, condescending, and flat out rude to tell a hearing impaired/deaf person you'll call them to discuss whatever matters are involved. Hello? We CANT HEAR YOU!. ALL their correspondence pre-canned form letters use language that are written for those who can hear.
Hey Elon Musk... Hey DOGE.. hey Whoever is working on Gutting the VA system (you know who you are...) ... These "highly skilled medical professionals" are the Doctors you need to target who are not doing their job right and serve them their walking papers, not the good doctors! These so-called "doctors / highly skilled medical professionals, the ones who cant read a patients profile and see they can't hear" need a cranial anal extraction.
Wednesday April 16th, I get an email stating that my request to be transferred to a new Primary Care Professional was granted and went into detail how things would be changing. How nice of them. - twirling finger in the air - A little late dontcha think? The damage has been done for well over a year and suddenly I get a new PCP.
Stay tuned to this webpage as I'll keep it updated.
